EP. 13 This One Strategy Helped Me Attracted Several 4-Figure Leads This Month

I closed one today! This is how I organize my content to build authority, show personality, and win business

How can creators like us, who are new to building online businesses, who have high-value skillsets, how do we scale our monthly recurring revenue (MRR) to get us the freedom we desire? That is the question, and this newsletter will give you the answers. Be sure to subscribe if these are the type of answers you seek.

My name is Boysie Gordon, and welcome to Boysie Talks Business.

And welcome to episode 13! (sorry for the audio, my mic audio wasn’t on)

In the last episode, I ranted a bit about work-life balance. Well, just to give you a rundown… it’s a lie! Don’t believe the lie; if you need work-life balance in your life, your life needs alignment.

Today, I am pretty excited! I finally filled the last slot of my program for this month! I might add some more for next month if resources permit. But it really is a matter of project scope.

If this project will take a lot of my resources, then I will not be able to add any slots. I’ll be able to entertain the idea more once I have onboarded my new client!

So with that wonderful news, I have a special surprise for you!

Today, I will be breaking down the foundation of my content strategy for those looking to build their business. This is an enhanced content strategy from my previous one that netted me a 4-figure deal this month!

I’ll make it quick! Let’s dig in!

Content Strategy 101

Before I get too far into my specific methodology, you must know the basics.

I don’t plan on treating you like a newbie, but I will share with you some of what I have learned along my path (listen to podcast for explanation).

  1. Common Topic + Personal Perspective = Unique Content

  2. Batching posts allows for efficiency and consistency.

  3. Stay focused on the main objectives at all times.

  4. Learning to copywrite will elevate content.

  5. Maintain the brand values, always!

These are the big 5 when it comes to the foundation of my content strategy.

What’s next?

Content Ratios

Everyone is always looking for a framework for what to write about.

This is my framework for it. I stole it from somewhere (I wish I remembered where) and modified it. Feel free to do the same thing to me!

Introducing Content Ratios…

It’s how to keep a balanced, variable, and focused profile. It allows you to venture out into fun topics while remaining focused on your main niche!

Here are my splits:

  • Business Solutions: 50% — attack a niche problem and talk about your business’s solution

  • Success Marketing: 30% — leverage success stories and case studies as proof of your business concept

  • Personal Interests: 20% — talk about your personal interests and passions and relate them to your brand values

These don’t have to be the same for you. They should be tailored to your audience, so just try to think about the type of content they would like to hear about. For some businesses, personal interests may be the main thing. For others, success marketing could be more.

Adjust as needed… I’m still adjusting mine as I go.

What’s next?

Content Buckets

This is where I take my content ratios and go a little more in-depth.

For this part, I am essentially limiting my content scope to ensure I am meeting the most important parts of my audience’s needs. Over the past 100+ days, I have been collecting data on what works and what problems exist.

This has allowed me to form content buckets!

Here’s what I suggest for someone looking to do it, too!

For the sake of math, we’ll make 10 content buckets (make no more than 15 and no less than 5):

  • 50% of my content is geared toward business solutions, so 5 of my buckets will reference a specific niche problem my audience faces.

    • Just list out as many problems as your niche might have and then pick the top 5.

      • I went a little above and beyond here because I wrote my content buckets about the philosophy of the problems (empathy is a superpower).

      • This allows me to keep the same content buckets forever rather than changing them later.

  • 30% of my content is geared toward success marketing, so 3 of my buckets will refer to my top 3 success stories.

    • It can be my clients or my own experiences

  • 20% of my content is geared toward my personal interest, so 2 of my buckets will touch on some of my extracurriculars.

    • It could be my newfound love for tennis or my past love for video games… doesn’t really matter what I pick.

    • Pick something that you have fun talking about.

Now that the content buckets are filled, it’s just about creating content for those in a cadence. It could be all 10 discussed per week or all 10 touched per month… whatever is comfortable.

I recommend starting with a few buckets and expanding as you learn more about your market.

And there you have it: your required content creation brainpower has been reduced by 50%. It’s no longer “What am I going to talk about?” it’s “How am I going to talk about this?”

It is an uncomfortable process to do at first, but once you adjust… it’s soo easy!

Thanks so much for tuning in!

Reminder!

I just covered the last slot for this month (and next). So, I will start a waitlist for those interested in getting dibs the next time I open my slots.

Again, if I can open more next month, I will, but not until I am confident I can facilitate the needs of my current clients. All in the name of quality!

If you are interested, reply “scale,” and we’ll hop on a free strategy call to see if we are a good fit, then I can add you to the waitlist if you like.
